Retail roles

How do I apply for a role in a retail store?

  • We want to make joining our retail team as easy as possible. There is no need to scroll our careers site every day to check for new positions – we’ll do it for you via our recruitment platform called ‘Weirdly’.
  • The first step is to create your Talent Profile. This contains information about you, your experience, your location preferences and your availability. No need for a resume!
  • Once you are in our candidate pool, our advanced technology will automatically match you with available positions that suit your preferences. When we have a vacancy pop up, we enter in a list of things we’re looking for – this might include shift availability, a store location or a set of requirements specific to the position. If your profile matches, you’ll automatically be included in a group of potential candidates.

I’ve created a Talent Profile in Weirdly. What happens now?

  • Once your Talent Profile is showing as 100% complete, you’ll automatically start appearing in searches for roles that fit your criteria (eg. location and available times).
  • If there’s nothing that fits your criteria just now, then you won’t be matched and won’t hear anything from us until there is.
  • When the information you’ve added to your profile matches the store’s requirements, you’ll automatically be put forward for consideration and the normal recruitment process will kick into gear. If you are shortlisted, you’ll be sent an invitation for an interview. This will appear in your email inbox, so make sure you keep an eye out.
  • If you move house, your schedule shifts or there’s a change to your ‘right to work’ status, make sure you log back in and update your details so the Talent Acquisition team knows and can proceed accordingly.

General FAQs

Who has the ability to see my profile?

  • The Super Retail Group Talent Acquisition team can view all candidates’ profiles within our recruitment databases – via Livehire for support office and leadership roles and Weirdly for retail roles.
  • In addition, only those people who are directly involved in your recruitment process will have access to view your profile.
  • Super Retail Group is bound by Federal privacy laws so your personal details will be handled confidentially. For further information please refer to the Privacy Policy section of this website.

How long will the recruitment process take before a decision is made?

  • The time the recruitment process takes can vary from one role to the next depending on a number of different considerations, such as number of applicants and the time our team need to complete all the checks required.
  • We know that waiting to hear back from a job application can sometimes feel like a long wait. We’re focused on delivering the best experience for all our candidates and aim to keep you as informed as much as possible at all stages of the process.

How can I prepare for my interview/assessment centre?

  • The questions you may be asked will be specific to the role you have applied for. Be prepared for questions which ask you to explain your functional/technical skills.
  • We also use behavioural based interviewing questions where you will be asked to provide examples of how you have demonstrated competencies in your previous roles that relate to the advertised position. When answering these questions you should talk about a specific situation, describe the task that you needed to complete, explain the action you took step by step and then tell us the result or outcome of that situation.
  • For some roles we hold assessment centres which may include an interview, a role play exercise or other assessment exercise. You will be advised during the recruitment process what to expect at your assessment centre and the types of assessment you will participate in.

What happens after the interview/assessment centre?

  • After your interview you will be contacted and advised of the outcome. If you would like to receive feedback about your interview, please contact your interviewer.

Is there a psychological assessment involved during the recruitment process?

  • A psychological assessment may be used within the recruitment process. These assessments could consist of several different components including verbal, numerical, abstract reasoning as well as emotional & behavioural. You will be advised before your start which assessments you will need to complete.
  • The assessment tool is used in conjunction with other selection tools (such as application and /or interview) to select the most suitable candidate for the position.

Will I be expected to provide referees or to undergo any background checks?

  • Candidates will undergo a working rights check and be asked to provide at least one to two referees who the Talent Acquisition team can contact by phone. It is preferable that these referees are or have been your direct manager/supervisor.
  • References will only be conducted by members of the Talent Acquisition team after you have given permission for your nominated referees to be contacted.
  • We use an online reference checking system called ‘Referoo’. This stage is important in helping us confirm that you’re eligible and suitable to accept any role we may offer.
  • If we require any additional background checks, we will obtain your consent in writing prior to proceeding.

Do you accept resumes from employment agencies?

  • Please note we don’t accept unsolicited applications. If you have a candidate that you wish to refer to us, please direct them to our careers website to apply online.
